It depends on the part. A capacitor, sensor or fan motor costs far less than a new unit. A failed compressor on an old unit can cost close to a replacement, and we tell you that before you decide.
A blocked drain pipe is the most common cause. Algae and dust clog the pipe, so water backs up and overflows from the drain pan. Clearing the pipe and cleaning the pan fixes most leaks.
